Job summary

Healthscope Limited is seeking a Part-Time Ward Clerk for the Day Surgery Unit at Norwest Private Hospital, Bella Vista. The role offers a 36-hour week across five days with early morning and late evening shifts (5am–7:30pm).

You will welcome patients and support the clinical team with admin tasks in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The successful candidate will manage patient files, coordinate results, assist with admissions and discharges, and liaise with health professionals to ensure smooth

• Welcoming and assisting patients, carers and visitors.
• Providing timely updates to relatives regarding patient progress and collection timeframes.
• Preparing and managing Day Surgery patient files.
• Coordinating documentation, including pathology and radiology results.
• Assisting with patient admissions and discharges during busy periods.
• Providing administrative support to the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing team.
• Liaising with allied health professionals, porters, and other hospital departments to coordinate patient care and transfers.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a part-time Ward Clerk to join our busy Day Surgery Unit. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a customer-focused environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.

As the first point of contact for many of our patients and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive experience while providing administrative support to our clinical team.

Please note: Flexibility is essential, with a requirement to work early morning and late evening shifts. Shifts can vary between 5am – 7.30pm

About the Role

As a Ward Clerk, you will be responsible for supporting patients, families, visitors, and clinical staff in a professional and compassionate manner. Key responsibilities include:

• Welcoming and assisting patients, carers, and visitors
• Providing timely updates to relatives regarding patient progress and collection timeframes
• Preparing and managing Day Surgery patient files
• Coordinating documentation, including pathology and radiology results
• Assisting with patient admissions and discharges during busy periods
• Providing administrative support to the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing team
• Liaising with allied health professionals, porters, and other hospital departments to coordinate patient care and transfers

Our Day Surgery Department

Our state-of-the-art perioperative services include:

• 19 operating theatres, including Endoscopy
• 32 first-stage recovery bays
• 32 second-stage recovery chairs
• 16 pre-operative beds

We support a broad range of specialties including:

General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, ENT, Plastics, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Angiography, Oral & Dental Surgery, Bariatric and Colorectal Surgery.
