Job summary

Norwest Christian College in Riverstone, NSW, is seeking a passionate Visual Arts Teacher to commence Term 1, 2027 (Term 4, 2026 negotiable). The role covers Visual Arts, Photographic and Digital Media, and senior creative courses in a Christ-centred community.

You will design creative lessons, assess students, and contribute to exhibitions and beyond-classroom opportunities while modelling Christian values and pastoral care.

Qualifications

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation, or eligibility to obtain accreditation.
  • Experience teaching Visual Arts and HSC Visual Arts is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Visual Arts across Stages 4–6, including elective courses and senior HSC classes.
  • Teach Stage 5 Photographic and Digital Media and Stage 6 Preliminary Photography, Video and Digital Imaging.
  • Design engaging, rigorous and creative lessons that develop technical skill and critical thinking.
  • Support students in developing bodies of work, portfolios and exhibition practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Creative and Performing Arts faculty and contribute to professional learning.
  • Engage in pastoral care responsibilities and integrate Christian faith into teaching and student relationships.

Norwest Christian College is seeking a passionate and capable Visual Arts Teacher to join our Secondary School team from Term 1, 2027, with the possibility of an earlier start date by mutual agreement. About the role
  • Teach Visual Arts across Stages 4–6, including elective courses and senior HSC classes.

  • Use a range of media, technologies and contemporary art practices to enrich teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the creative life of the College through exhibitions, events, excursions, workshops and enrichment opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate assessment, reporting and student progress records in line with NESA and College requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Creative and Performing Arts faculty and contribute to ongoing professional learning.
  • Engage in pastoral care responsibilities and authentically integrate Christian faith into teaching practice and student relationships.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith, including active involvement in a Christian fellowship.

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation, or eligibility to obtain accreditation.
  • Successful experience teaching Visual Arts, with HSC Visual Arts experience highly regarded.
  • Strong classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to academic excellence and high expectations for student learning.
  • A collaborative approach to program development, resource sharing and professional growth.
  • A pastoral mindset and an understanding of the wellbeing needs of adolescents.
