Job summary

Queensland Health's Cairns Hospital seeks a Director of Medical Services to guide regional healthcare governance, workforce development and service improvement, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care across Far North Queensland.

Reporting to executive leadership, you will lead clinical governance, credentialing, and scope of practice; manage medical improvement actions; steer workforce planning and development; and collaborate on research and innovative care models to meet future needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the medical services operating plan aligned with strategy, governance, and performance framework.
• Lead clinical governance, credentialing and scope of practice processes with governance committees.
• Manage medical improvement actions from incidents and reviews, ensuring timely completion.
• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention and development with key leaders.
• Support research governance and translate evidence into practice; collaborate on safe tech adoption.
