Pymble Ladies' College Sydney – Arcadia NSW
Pymble Ladies’ College is a school of the Uniting Church in Australia for girls Kindergarten to Year 12 with boarding from Year 7. At Pymble, we foster a world-class educational environment with the importance of global citizenship and a worldwide perspective central to our strategic intent.
We believe our staff, both teaching and non‑teaching, are our most valuable resource. We are proud to have passionate and dedicated staff who recognise the unique strengths and qualities of every Pymble girl.
The role
Experiential learning and outdoor education form a foundational part of a Pymble Ladies’ College education. The College’s Vision Valley campus in Arcadia, NSW is a crucial site for the continuum of learning experiences for students. The Vision Valley Teacher reports to the Deputy Head of Campus – Vision Valley to develop and maintain high quality, safe and engaging programs at the Vision Valley campus and offsite locations.
The Vision Valley Teacher is responsible for the delivery of successful Residential Programs, curriculum programs, supporting student wellbeing, and enriching the on‑site outdoor education and off‑site expedition programs.
A significant part of this role is focused on developing and supporting the Year 9 Residential Program based at the Vision Valley campus across four weeks each term. Teachers are involved in delivering a high quality and engaging experiential learning and outdoor education program, and preparing for the arrival of each Year 9 cohort. Learning modules take inspiration from authentic and real‑world concepts and are embedded into residential life at Vision Valley, with a focus on connecting more deeply with self, others and the natural world. Learning utilises flexible outdoor and indoor learning spaces, across a range of curriculum and subject areas in addition to outdoor education.
At Vision Valley Outdoor Educators and Vision Valley Teachers, work together to form a ‘pool’ of experienced staff who support our girls and other clients. The nature of Vision Valley’s programs mean that hours vary week‑to‑week and may include work across seven days of the week, evenings, and overnights. Rostering and work requirements for programs is at the discretion of the Head of Campus, Vision Valley and communicated well in advance.
The Vision Valley Teacher will be required to work up to seven (7) nights during each Residential Program as well as up to sixteen (16) nights either on‑site or off‑site – outside of the Residential Programs each year. Unlike a traditional classroom environment, Vision Valley Teachers do not have a marking load, nor reports to write, and the majority of program and lesson planning takes place during regular work hours as part of the roster.
The start date for this opportunity is negotiable.
