Job summary

Banora Point High School invites applications for a Teacher Special Education Vision (Itinerant) 0.4FTE. The role supports students with vision impairment across the campus, promoting inclusive learning and independent access to the curriculum.

Required are NSW approvals to teach Visual Impairment (Primary and Secondary), strong communication and collaboration with students, staff and families, and experience with braille, assistive technology and iOS apps.

Qualifications

• Approval to teach Visual Impairment (Primary) and Visual Impairment (Secondary).
• High level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education’s relevant disability policies as well as the policies and protocols supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in culturally safe environments and respecting cultural practices.
• Experience in teaching the use of braille, assistive technology and associated software including iOS applications to support access to the curriculum, as well as the ability to co-develop and monitor personalised learning and other relevant plans for students with visual impairments
