Job summary

RJN Cua Vineyards is seeking up to 20 full-time Labourers to join our horticulture team. The role supports wine and table grape harvests across peak periods and requires flexibility for shifts at two main sites in Red Cliffs, VIC and Mundubbera, QLD.

Responsibilities include assisting harvest operations, maintaining vineyard grounds, and preparing fruit for packaging and export. Candidates should be physically fit and able to pass police checks, with a valid Australian driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Must be physically capable of repetitive movements and lifting 10 kg or more.
• Ability to pass police clearance check.
• Consent to regular drug and alcohol checks on site.
• Must hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Willingness to work outside ordinary hours, including weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Assist in wine grape harvest operations day or night as required.
• Perform general maintenance of vineyard equipment and infrastructure.
• Assist with table grape harvest preparation, packaging and transport to cool rooms.
• Support storage, sorting and packaging tasks for various produce categories.

Job Description

RJN Cua Vineyards is a horticulture-based business that primarily works with table and wine grapes. The business traditionally runs at full capacity between the months of November - May, with the additional months occupied with setting up for the next season and other tasks. RJN Cua Vineyards is seeking up to 20 full-time, long-term employees to join the team as a faming Labourer.

This role offers up to 3 years of employment in a full-time capacity. Operations will be a maximum of 12 hours per shift, with two days off per fortnight. Weekly hours will not exceed 60 hours unless external factors require.

The location of work will be transferable between the two main sites. These sites are in the following vicinities:

• Red Cliffs, Victoria, 3496
• Mundubbera, Queensland, 4626

Ideally, the applicant will be located in one of the two areas. Peak periods are based upon location (many external factors can change these timelines):

• QLD-based is November - February
• VIC-based is January - May.

As a Labourer, you will work in a diverse landscape where duties can cover the following (not limited to): During peak periods, you will commonly be completing the following duties.

• Wine Grape Harvest & Maintenance

• o Assist in harvest operations day or night as required by the fruit and buyer
• o All general upkeeping duties of a wine grape vineyard (spraying, slashing, irrigation, post and trellis repair, etc)

• Table Grape Harvest & Maintenance

• o Assist in harvest operations, which commence at 5 am, to prepare packaging requirements for fruit, conduct quality inspections, and export fruit to domestic and international markets. Prepare equipment for the Fruit Picking staff and assist with the transportation of fruit from the field to the cool rooms.
• o All general maintenance duties of a table grape vineyard (spraying, slashing, irrigation, post and trellis repair, cleaning of equipment, etc)

Other duties which may occur are:

• Frozen Fruits

• o Handling raw product to enter production line, moving and storage of completed packaging, and cleaning of equipment

• Almond Storage & Export

• o Handling produce and packaging as required by management, preparing for transport and export, and cleaning of storage areas

• Additional adhoc duties as required

To be successful in this role, you need:

• To be physically capable of repetitive movements and able to lift 10 kgs or more
• You will also need to be able to successfully pass a police clearance check
• Be consenting to regular drug and alcohol checks whilst onsite
• Have an Australian driver's licence
• Be willing to work outside of ordinary hours.

This can also include weekends, nights and public holidays

• Be willing to commence work
• Have accommodation in either: Red Cliffs, Victoria or surrounds, OR Mundubbera, Queensland or surrounds

Remuneration will be as per the Horticulture Award 2020. Depending on the candidate's skill level, employees will commence on Level 1 as a full-time employee, equating to $25.74 an hour. After completing 3 months of employment (if you have not already), the successful candidate will progress to Level 2, $26.44 an hour.

Overtime payments will be as per the Horticulture Award and as required. This role will be subject to a 6-month probationary period commencing as of the first working day for the successful candidate.
