Job summary

The University of Queensland Gatton Campus seeks a part-time Veterinary Nursing/Teaching Laboratory Coordinator to help coordinate the Teaching Laboratory and provide skilled operational, technical and instructional support for undergraduate practical teaching and workshops.

You will bring practical veterinary nursing experience, strong animal welfare commitment and the ability to support students and staff in a busy teaching environment.

Qualifications

• Practical veterinary nursing experience and high standard of animal care.
• Experience supporting teaching laboratories and practical classes.
• Knowledge of lab techniques, animal handling, anaesthesia and post‑operative monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily operation of the Teaching Laboratory, class preparation, inventory management, stock rotation, ordering and routine maintenance.
• Provide professional medical, surgical and technical support, including animal handling and husbandry, anaesthesia and post-operative monitoring, basic laboratory procedures, diagnostic clinical pathology and assistance with specialised imaging procedures.
• Support practical teaching and continuing education activities by working with academic staff, assisting students and preparing animals, equipment and facilities for teaching classes and practical surgery.
• Assist with clipping and sorting out cadavers for practicals.
• Contribute to Centre operations through equipment care, record keeping, customer service and administrative support.
