Job summary

Apiam Animal Health Limited is seeking a Veterinary Nurse Team Leader at Romsey Veterinary Surgery. The role combines hands-on clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities in a busy mixed-animal practice. You will mentor the nursing team and support vets to deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a veterinary practice.
• Leadership, mentoring, or supervising veterinary nurses or clinical staff is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of surgical nursing, anaesthesia monitoring, and patient care.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with client relationship focus.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with consultations, hospital care and surgical procedures.
• Perform pathology procedures, radiography, post-operative care and medication preparation.
• Communicate treatment plans and patient updates to clients.
• Lead, supervise and support the nursing team.
• Coordinate daily nursing workflows to ensure efficient patient care.
• Coach, mentor and train the team to build capability.
• Assist in performance and development reviews.
• Manage nursing rosters and staff scheduling.
• Coordinate admissions and patient flow throughout the clinic.
• Monitor stock levels and ordering requirements.
• Support reception and client service when required.
• Maintain and improve clinic procedures and protocols.
