Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working in a veterinary practice.
• Strong nursing fundamentals and commitment to excellent patient care.
• Genuine passion for training, educating and mentoring trainee veterinary nurses.
• Ability to explain clinical concepts and demonstrate practical skills clearly and confidently.

Responsibilities

• Support trainees with practical requirements and competencies associated with their Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
• Provide high-quality nursing care, handling and monitoring of hospitalised patients.
• Assist veterinarians during consultations, examinations and procedures.
• Prepare patients and equipment for surgery and diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor anaesthesia and support patients through surgery and recovery, in accordance with training and clinic protocols.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and assist with diagnostic imaging and other investigations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
• Support the care and handling of exotic companion animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats and mice.
• Provide practical guidance, supervision and mentorship to trainee veterinary nurses.
