Job description

  • Drive clinical excellence and team development
  • Help build a hospital from the ground up

Help shape the future of veterinary care at Coomera, where we are creating an open hospital designed to strengthen the connection between pets, their families and the veterinary team.

Animal Emergency Service (AES) Coomera is a new, purpose-built, 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital currently being developed on the northern Gold Coast.

Located within the Coomera Home Ideas Centre, the hospital has been thoughtfully designed to deliver exceptional patient care, strengthen connections with pet owners and foster a collaborative environment for veterinary teams.

As part of this exciting next chapter, we are seeking an experienced Vet Team Manager to lead the successful launch of AES Coomera and guide its ongoing operations.

You will lead a team that recognises each client as an integral part of their pet’s journey, keeping them informed and inviting appropriate participation in treatment decisions.

About the Role

The Vet Team Manager will play a key leadership role within our veterinary hospital, combining clinical expertise with people leadership to drive exceptional patient care and team performance.
This is a unique clinical and people leadership role, balancing clinical excellence with team development, mentoring, and operational leadership. You will directly influence outcomes across people, patient care, and business performance, ensuring our veterinary team is supported to perform at its best.
Working closely with the Hospital Director and leadership team, you will support a culture of clinical excellence, continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth while helping shape the future direction of the veterinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspire clinical excellence and uphold high standards of veterinary care.
  • Lead by example as a visible, values-driven leader on the hospital floor.
  • Mentor and develop veterinarians through coaching, feedback, training, and individual development plans.
  • Drive operational performance, including rostering, onboarding, meetings, and workforce support.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to deliver strategic and people-focused outcomes.
  • Champion clinical quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture.
About You

You are an experienced veterinarian and confident people leader who is passionate about supporting both clinical excellence and team development. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy mentoring others, and bring a collaborative, positive approach to leadership. Your ability to build trust, communicate effectively, and influence positive outcomes makes you a respected leader within the hospital.

  • Veterinary degree recognised in Australia.
  • Experienced ECC Veterinarian and/or demonstrated leadership experience within a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Strong clinical skills with a commitment to evidence-based medicine and ongoing professional development.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to work autonomously and support others in challenging situations.
  • Passion for mentorship, collaboration, and developing future veterinary talent.
  • Resilient, empathetic leader who aligns with our values and culture.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster in a full-time, on-site leadership role within a 24/7 ECC environment.

This full-time, onsite role is based at AES Coomera. You will be required to work alternate weekends and varied hours between 6:00am and 9:00pm to support hospital operations.

Why Join AES Coomera?

As part of the founding team, you will have the opportunity to shape the hospital’s culture, ways of working and approach to emergency care from day one.

  • Join from the start and help shape how AES Coomera grows.
  • Work in a purpose-built hospital designed for clearer client communication.
  • Be part of a team that keeps pet owners connected and informed.
  • Help build a new hospital culture centred on teamwork and care.
  • Access the support, expertise and opportunities available through Australia’s largest employee-owned emergency veterinary network.
  • Opportunity to lead a brand-new hospital from opening.
  • Competitive remuneration package.
