Job summary

Palmwoods Hotel on the Sunshine Coast hinterland seeks an experienced Venue Manager to own the day-to-day running of a busy hotel with a 250-seat Bistro, Sports Bar, Gaming Room and detached bottleshops.

You will lead a hands-on management team, oversee all venue operations, ensure compliance, and drive guest satisfaction while fostering a strong local presence and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Venue Manager in busy hotel or pub environment.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage trade management.
• Experience with gaming, TAB and Keno operations.
• Experience overseeing Drive Thru and detached bottleshops.
• Understanding of entertainment-based venues, live entertainment, events and promotions.
• Hands-on manager able to operate across all hotel areas.
• Positive leadership fostering a strong team culture.
• Ability to liaise with patrons and build local relationships.
• Licences: RSA, RMLV, RSG and Approved Manager.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.

We are looking for an experienced Venue Manager for our Palmwoods Hotel, situated in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Palmwoods Hotel is a successful and busy family-owned hotel consisting of a 250-seat Bistro, Sports Bar, Gaming Room with 26 machines, Keno, TAB facilities, Drive Thru and 2 detached bottleshops. About 50 staff are employed in the business, many of whom have been with us for many years.

Palmwoods Hotel is known for its high-quality food and friendly service in the Bistro, strong local trade and regular live entertainment in the Sports Bar including jam nights, trivia, bands, soloists and DJs.

We are looking for an experienced Venue Manager with a proven track record managing a busy hotel with similar operations. The successful applicant will have the experience and confidence to take ownership of the venue, lead our team and oversee all areas of the business.

The successful applicant will:

Have proven experience as a Venue Manager in a busy hotel or pub environment

Have a strong track record managing a venue with significant food and beverage trade

Have strong knowledge and experience across gaming, TAB and Keno operations

Have experience overseeing retail liquor operations, including Drive Thru and detached bottleshops

Understand entertainment-based venues and the importance of live entertainment, events and promotions to the overall business

Be an experienced, hands-on manager who is comfortable working across all areas of the hotel

Be an outstanding team leader who fosters a positive work environment

Be customer focused and able to liaise effectively with patrons at all levels

Understand the importance of strong local trade and building relationships with our regular customers and wider community

Have the ability to professionally supervise, train, develop and direct a team of approximately 50 staff

Have strong experience in rostering, wage management, stock control and operational performance

Have strong gaming knowledge and an understanding of all relevant compliance requirements

Hold current RSA, RMLV, RSG and Approved Manager's Licence

Have a bright, friendly and approachable personality that fits with our team and our customers

Have great ideas and initiative to help us continue to grow the business

Have good presentation and excellent attention to detail

Be able to work effectively with our management team while also having the confidence to work autonomously

Have strong references and a demonstrated record of success in previous Venue Manager roles

We are specifically looking for someone who already has the experience required to successfully manage a venue of this size and nature. You will be supported in learning our systems, procedures and the way we operate, but we are looking for an established Venue Manager who can bring their own knowledge and experience to the role.

You must be able to maintain the high level of customer service Palmwoods Hotel is known for while ensuring the venue operates efficiently across all areas of the business.
