Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Vascular Sonographer to perform a broad range of vascular imaging, including operating theatre scans, neonatal and adult ICU cases, and inpatient/outpatient vascular studies.

The role is part-time (8 hours/week) with permanent status and a salary between $60.17 and $80.19 per hour. The unit focuses on quality assurance, patient throughput, and ongoing clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science and a relevant postgraduate diploma/degree in Sonography.
• Current AHPRA registration and EPA Licence or ASAR accreditation as a Medical Sonographer.
• Recent vascular ultrasound experience in a tertiary hospital is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure department efficiency, room stock checks, and equipment readiness.
• Participate in patient throughput, care, and scheduling; adhere to QA standards.
• Assist with protocol implementation and resource optimization in Vascular Ultrasound Unit.

Job description

Vascular Sonographer required with experience in a wide range of examinations including scanning in the operating theatre, have experience in acute renal transplant scanning, neonatal and adult intensive care scanning, and scanning inpatient and outpatient vascular patients.

What you'll be doing

To ensure the efficiency of the department is maintained, in association with departmental SSOs (if available), daily completion of room stock take is to be performed, including examination room preparation, maintenance of consumables, and assistance for manual handling tasks.

The position must participate with patient throughput, patient care and patient scheduling. Included within this definition is overall Quality Assurance, organisation, activities and adherence to the standards within the Vascular Ultrasound Unit; participating in implementation of existing and new techniques, adherence to protocols, scheduling and training and ensuring all resources are used in the most effective manner.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Must hold a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science in Diagnostic Radiography or Applied Science and a relevant post graduate diploma with current AHPRA registration and EPA Licence or ASAR accredited Medical Sonographer with a post graduate degree in Sonography.
• Current or recent demonstrated experience in vascular ultrasound in a tertiary hospital.

Proven ability in both written and verbal communication with patients and hospital staff.
