Job summary

Infrastructure Engineering Group (IEG) is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join our NSW team. You will support identification, investigation, design and coordination of utility infrastructure affected by major civil works across water, sewer, electrical, telecoms and gas systems.

You will work with experienced utilities specialists on projects from tender through to construction delivery, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Experience in utilities engineering or civil infrastructure design.
• Ability to interpret civil drawings, utility plans and technical specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

IEG is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join our growing NSW team. This role will suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems and working across multiple engineering disciplines. You will support the identification, investigation, design and coordination of utility infrastructure affected by major civil works. You will work with experienced utilities specialists on projects involving water, sewer, stormwater, electrical, telecommunications and gas infrastructure. The role provides exposure to the complete project lifecycle, from tender and early contractor involvement through to detailed design and construction delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting the identification and assessment of existing utility infrastructure
• Reviewing utility records, surveys, BYDA information, design documentation and subsurface utility investigation results
• Preparing and maintaining utility registers, interface registers, clash reports, risk assessments and design documentation
• Coordinating utility investigations, including survey, service locating and potholing activities
• Developing utility adjustment, protection and relocation solutions
• Reviewing civil designs to identify utility conflicts, constructability constraints and project risks
• Coordinating with civil, structural, electrical, drainage, traffic and construction teams
• Liaising with utility authorities, clients, contractors, surveyors and specialist designers
• Supporting authority consultation, design submissions and approval processes
• Contributing to utility management plans, services management plans, technical reports, scopes of work and cost estimates

About you

• A recognised degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Experience in utilities engineering, civil infrastructure design, utility coordination or construction delivery
• An understanding of underground and overhead utility infrastructure
• The ability to interpret civil drawings, utility plans, survey information and technical specifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A practical approach to engineering and problem-solving
• Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
• The confidence to communicate with clients, contractors, designers and utility authorities
• A collaborative attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work
