Job summary

CGC Recruitment is seeking a Project Engineer for Sydney Water Utilities Projects. You will support utilities packages, including relocation of underground services on major Sydney Water projects.

You will work with the Project Manager and site teams to drive safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery, with exposure to programme, commercials, subcontractors and client interfaces.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years' experience as Project/ Site Engineer on utilities.
• Experience with underground services relocation.
• Experience in civil infrastructure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in safety, cost, and programme delivery.
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with planning, programming, and weekly reporting.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, ITPs and quality docs.
• Support cost control, forecasting, variations and progress claims.
• Help maintain strong client relationships.
• Ensure WHS and Sydney Water standards compliance.

This Tier 4 civil contractor is well regarded within the utilities sector, known for delivering high-quality projects and retaining top talent. They have recently secured a utility relocation package on a $200M Sydney Water project and are continuing to build their high-performing team.

Projects typically range from $1M-$10M, with a strong focus on self-performing works across utilities and civil infrastructure.

The Role

As a Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of utilities packages, including relocation of underground services on major Sydney Water projects.

Working closely with the Project Manager and site teams, you will help drive safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery, with hands-on exposure to programme, commercials, subcontractors, and client interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in delivering all aspects of the project, including safety, commercial performance, and programme
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Assist with planning, programming, and weekly reporting
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, ITPs, and quality documentation
• Support cost control, forecasting, variations, and progress claims
• Help build and maintain strong client relationships
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and Sydney Water standards

Skills & Experience

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• 2-5 years' experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer, ideally on utilities / Sydney Water projects
• Exposure to underground services and relocation works
• Experience across civil infrastructure (road, rail, or water) is highly regarded
• Working knowledge of commercial and contractual processes
• Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
