Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking an Unaccredited Speciality Surgical Registrar (Urology) to provide high‑quality clinical care within the Speciality Surgery service, focusing on Urology with cover for Thoracics, Vascular and ENT as required.

The role involves day‑to‑day ward rounds, on‑call responsibilities, participation in theatre lists and supervision of interns, HMOs and medical students, plus engagement in audits and education to improve surgical services.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical assessment, decision‑making and patient management skills appropriate to your level of training.
• Commitment to teaching, professional development, quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy surgical environment and manage on‑call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day management of patients within the General Surgery service, including ward rounds and care coordination.
• Respond to surgical referrals, emergencies and on‑call responsibilities with timely assessment and escalation of care.
• Participate in operating theatre lists and assist in delivering elective and emergency surgical services.
• Support and supervise Interns, HMOs and medical students through education, mentoring and clinical guidance.
• Coordinate and contribute to surgical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, pathology meetings and imaging rounds to support quality improvement.
• Participate in clinical research, service development and initiatives that promote effective communication and collaboration across the surgical division.
