Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health in Victoria is seeking a General Surgeon to contribute to elective and emergency surgical services. You will assess, diagnose and plan discharge for surgical patients, lead ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care.

You will respond to referrals and on-call duties with timely decision-making, participate in theatre lists, and support interns and HMOs through supervision and teaching.

Qualifications

• MBBS and eligibility for AHPRA registration.
• Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and patient management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy surgical environment with on‑call duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day management of patients in General Surgery, including ward rounds and clinical reviews.
• Respond to referrals and emergencies with timely assessment and escalation of care.
• Participate in operating theatre lists and assist in delivering elective and emergency surgical services.
• Educate and mentor Interns, HMOs and medical students.
