Job summary

Transport for NSW – Sydney International Airport NSW is seeking an urban design professional to contribute to design excellence and place-based outcomes across Transport programs. Based in Sydney CBD, you will work with the Design Excellence team to develop standards, toolkits and guidance, while ensuring responsive urban design outcomes.

In this role, you'll:

Contribute and support a team responsible for embedding urban design requirements, design excellence and place based outcomes across Transport programs and projects. Your primary focus will be in the Design Excellence team. You will contribute to high quality, customer and community focused places and infrastructure aligned with government priorities. The role involves collaborating across the branch, Transport cluster and external partners, contributing to the development of standards, guidelines, toolkits and training materials, and assisting with design excellence processes and Transport’s Place Performance Index.

You will prepare reports and presentations, support coordination of external design advisors, and represent Urban Design in forums and workshops as required. Working closely with project and delivery teams, you will help ensure urban design outcomes respond to local context, support active transport, enhance liveability and deliver successful multi modal transport environments.

About you

You are an emerging or mid level urban design professional with experience applying urban design principles in transport, public domain or infrastructure projects. You bring a solid understanding of contextual and place based design and are comfortable contributing to design reviews, standards and toolkits in practical project settings. You work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners, contributing to and supporting urban design outcomes that balance customer and community needs with operational and delivery requirements.

With relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture or Landscape Architecture, you are motivated to contribute to high quality, design led outcomes that enhance liveability, support active transport and deliver inclusive, customer focused places aligned with government priorities.

This is a permanent role and will be based in Sydney CBD (Elizabeth St). The salary for this position is a Transport Grade 8 ($141,678- $158,677) per annum plus superannuation. Part time and job share arrangements will be considered.
