Job summary

Glencore Australia is advertising for an Underground Supervisor to lead the George Fisher Mine underground team in Mount Isa. The role is residential in Mount Isa with a 7/7 days/nights roster and relocation support available for non-locals.

You will report to the Underground Superintendent and oversee safety, planning, scheduling, and maintenance to ensure high performance and compliance with site standards and Queensland regulations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated supervisory experience within underground mining.
• Strong understanding of QLD mining statutory compliance and safety systems.
• Current Queensland Manual Driver’s Licence.
• Current Queensland S123 Supervisor Certificate and G2 Risk Management competency.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Strong leadership and people management capability.
• High-level safety focus and ability to drive a safety culture.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting ability.
• High attention to detail, good time management and a proactive approach to improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor underground personnel to ensure safe and effective work execution.
• Promote and enforce safety standards, site procedures, risk assessments, JSEA’s and statutory requirements.
• Conduct inspections, audits, toolbox meetings, pre-starts and PASS meetings.
• Support incident reporting, investigation and corrective actions.
• Support development and execution of weekly work schedules.
• Coach, mentor and develop apprentices, trades and leading hands.
• Conduct performance reviews and support training requirements.
• Build strong internal and external relationships, including with suppliers and other departments.
