Job summary

MMG Rosebery in Tasmania invites applications for an Underground Operator – Nipper. Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, you will ensure safety and efficiency in a demanding underground environment on a 7:7 roster.

Responsibilities include pre-start safety checks, following shift plans, real-time communication with Mine Control, transporting tools and materials, waste removal, and assisting other crews.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and uphold company values.
• Pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening; background checks.
• Experience operating heavy earth moving equipment (desirable).
• Underground mining or heavy industry experience desirable.
• Must hold a manual driver’s licence.
• First Aid certificate desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-start safety checks on assigned mining equipment.
• Follow shift plans to meet operational requirements.
• Maintain real-time communication with Mine Control.
• Deliver and pick up equipment, tools, piping and services as needed.
• Remove waste items from underground workings to waste dumps.
• Assist Jumbo Operators with bolting and meshing as required.
• Set up headings with bolts and mesh and assist service crew.
• Ensure all pre-starts are completed and workers are fit for duty.
• Maintain proper signage and warning hazards across the site.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards at all times.
