Job summary

Anglo American Australia is seeking an experienced Longwall Mechanical Production Fitter to join our underground Moranbah North Mine. This is a hands-on role maintaining and supporting longwall equipment to keep the operation safe, reliable and efficient.

Reporting to the Longwall Mechanical Supervisor, you will perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on longwall gear, fault-finding hydraulic systems, and collaborate with production, electrical and maintenance teams to minimise

Qualifications

• Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification.
• Experience working in an underground coal mine.
• Previous longwall mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with shearers, AFCs, BSLs, roof supports and hydraulic systems.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience completing planned and breakdown maintenance.
• A sound understanding of isolation and stored-energy controls.
• Strong safety awareness and hazard-identification skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a production-focused team.
• Clear communication and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Current underground competencies and qualifications required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Performing planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on longwall equipment.
• Inspecting, maintaining and repairing shearers, AFCs, BSLs and powered roof supports.
• Maintaining and fault-finding hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Diagnosing equipment faults and completing practical repairs to minimise production delays.
• Supporting longwall production and equipment availability.
• Completing equipment inspections and identifying emerging defects.
• Assisting with component changeouts, installations and longwall moves when required.
• Following isolation, stored-energy and underground risk-control requirements.
• Completing work orders and maintenance records accurately.
• Working closely with operators, electricians and other trades.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and equipment care.
• Contributing to a positive, respectful and safety focused crew.
