Job summary

Iluka Resources in Balranald, NSW is seeking a trade-based Technical Officer (Mechanical) to support drilling operations using down hole tooling. You will own tooling lifecycle, track condition, coordinate with Maintenance, Reliability, Planning, and Warehouse teams, and ensure tooling is inspected and repaired promptly.

Reporting to Maintenance Manager, you will maintain QA checks, oversee repair documentation, drive improvements to standard work, and contribute to cost reduction through

Qualifications

• : A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Fitting, Toolmaking, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or similar technical experience.
• : Experience working with maintenance, repairs, warehousing, rotable assets, spare parts, or equipment management.
• : Understanding of quality assurance, equipment reliability, and asset lifecycle management.
• : Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records, reporting, and asset tracking information.
• : Well-developed computer skills and confidence using maintenance, inventory, or business systems.
• : A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and ownership of tasks through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Own underground mining DHT tooling and repairable asset lifecycle management
• Track tooling condition, asset status, repair progress, turnaround times and availability across operational and warehouse locations
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Reliability, UGM, Planning, Warehouse and Purchasing teams to ensure tooling is inspected, repaired, returned, replaced or escalated in a timely manner
• Establish and maintain visibility of critical DHT tooling inventory, repairable items, rotable items and spare availability
• Maintain quality assurance checks to ensure tooling returned to service is fit for purpose.
• Identify repeat tooling issues and provide structured feedback to Reliability, Maintenance and Operations teams for investigation and corrective action.
• Coordinate warranty claims, supplier feedback and repair documentation to reduce avoidable cost and improve commercial recovery.
• Monitor tooling usage, repair frequency, failure trends and replacement demand to support improved forecasting and purchasing decisions
• Maintain accurate records for tooling movement, condition, repairs, warranty outcomes and lifecycle status
• Drive improvements to standard work processes covering DHT inspection, return-to-service assessment, storage, repair routing and disposal
