Iluka Resources is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the Balranald Maintenance team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on value optimisation across the project lifecycle at a high-grade mineral sands operation featuring screening, flotation, and magnetic separation processes.

The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and involves downtime analysis, reliability tooling, and asset management standardisation, with FIFO/DIDO/Residential options and relocation support where

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or related discipline; trade background is highly regarded.
• Experience in a mining or processing environment.
• Strong attention to detail; commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Excel; SAP experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage, analyse and report on downtime data.
• Apply reliability engineering tools (FMECA, RCA, 5 Whys, RCM, Weibull) and defect eliminations.
• Minimise downtime by analyzing asset availability, reliability and maintainability.
• Review and optimise asset maintenance strategies and standards.
• Provide technical support to solve complex asset performance issues.
• Coach maintenance teams on asset management and reliability best practices.

8 days on, 6 days off, Permanent Position

FIFO from Melbourne or DIDO regional or relocation support available

Join Iluka's new Balranald Operation that deploys a novel, remotely operated, underground mining technology based on Horizontal Direction Drilling platforms to extract ore. Balranald deposit is one of the highest-grade mineral sands deposits in the world, containing significant quantities of titanium minerals rutile and zircon, as well as smaller but material quantities of rare earths.

About the location

Iluka’s Balranald operation is located just outside of Balranald township in regional south-western NSW.

You can choose to reside locally, drive-in drive-out from towns within the regional area, or fly-in fly-out from Melbourne or Sydney.

Relocation assistance will be provided to the preferred candidate if required.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join Iluka’s Maintenance team. The permanent position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to contribute to value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.

At Balranald, the processing plant incorporates a range of essential processes, including screening, de-sliming, thickening, spirals, flotation, and magnetic separation. The operation also includes horizontal drill rigs and a diverse range of mobile equipment.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the main responsibilities of this role include:

• Manage, analyse, and report on downtime data
• Facilitate proactive maintenance program by applying Reliability Engineering tools Including Failure Mode Effect & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Why’s Analysis, Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Weibull analysis & defect eliminations
• Minimise production downtime by investigating failure events and perform detailed analysis on plant & equipment availability, reliability & maintainability to identify and rectify equipment and operational defects
• Review asset maintenance strategies & oversee maintenance strategy, development & optimisation
• Develop and implement Asset Management standards and processes
• Technical support in solving complex problems affecting asset performance
• Coach and mentor maintenance teams on asset management and reliability best practice

About you

To be successful for this role, you will have:

• An engineering degree or related discipline, complemented by a trade background, will be highly regarded
• Previous demonstrated experience in a mining or processing environment
• High level attention to detail
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and team engagement
• A high level of proficiency with Excel and other software packages including SAP would be highly regarded
