Job summary

Sandvik Ground Support in Mackay, Queensland, is seeking experienced Underground Operators for a casual role in underground coal operations on a 7 days on/7 days off roster. You will contribute to standing support, strata support, ventilation devices, and roadway maintenance across customer mine sites.

Reporting to the Product Line Manager - Standing Support, you will work with a safety-focused team, operate underground mining equipment, install support structures, and help deliver ground

Qualifications

• Experience working in underground mining.
• Valid underground mining licence and relevant certifications.
• Knowledge of underground safety procedures and mine navigation.
• Strong mechanical awareness and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work safely in confined, dark environments.
• Teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain competency across equipment including bolters, shuttle cars, loaders, drift runners and QDS implements.

Responsibilities

• Operating underground mining equipment and mobile plant.
• Loading and unloading materials safely and efficiently.
• Installing standing support structures and ventilation devices.
• Supporting the application of chemical injection products.
• Completing roof and rib bolting and other strata support activities.
• Operating and maintaining pumps and other underground equipment.
• Assisting with roadway maintenance.
• Conducting pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections.
• Completing required safety documentation, including SLAMS, POPs and safety interactions.
• Maintaining clear communication with crew members and providing effective shift handovers.
• Supporting daily and weekly operational plans and performance targets.
• Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards underground.
