Job summary

Sandvik Ground Support is seeking safety-focused Underground Operators for our Ground Consolidation team in Queensland. Based at customer mine sites, you will operate underground equipment, install standing support and ventilation devices, and assist with chemical injections on a 7 days on / 7 days off roster.

You will contribute to safe operations, complete required safety documentation, and collaborate with an experienced team delivering innovative ground support solutions across underground

Qualifications

  • Valid underground mining licence and relevant certifications.
  • Experience in underground mining operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in confined, dark and physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to obtain competency across bolters, shuttle cars, loaders, drift runners and QDS implements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate underground mining equipment and mobile plant.
  • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
  • Install standing support structures and ventilation devices.
  • Assist with chemical injection product applications.
  • Complete roof and rib bolting and other strata support activities.
  • Operate and maintain pumps and other underground equipment.
  • Assist with roadway maintenance.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operational equipment inspections.
  • Complete safety documentation and interactions.
  • Maintain clear crew communication and handovers.
  • Support daily and weekly operational plans and performance targets.
  • Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards underground.

Mackay, Queensland | Underground Mining | 7/7 Roster

Are you an experienced Underground Operator looking for a diverse role where you can contribute to critical ground support solutions across leading underground coal operations?

Sandvik Ground Support is seeking safety-focused and reliable Underground Operators to join our Ground Consolidation team in Queensland. Working on a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, you’ll play a vital role in delivering underground mining services including standing support, strata support, chemical injection products, ventilation devices, and roadway maintenance.

Based at our customer mine sites and reporting to the Product Line Manager - Standing Support , you will work alongside an experienced team committed to safety, operational excellence, and delivering industry-leading ground support solutions.

About the role
  • Operating underground mining equipment and mobile plant
  • Loading and unloading materials safely and efficiently
  • Installing standing support structures and ventilation devices
  • Supporting the application of chemical injection products
  • Completing roof and rib bolting and other strata support activities
  • Operating and maintaining pumps and other underground equipment
  • Assisting with roadway maintenance
  • Conducting pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections
  • Completing required safety documentation, including SLAMS, POPs and safety interactions
  • Maintaining clear communication with crew members and providing effective shift handovers
  • Supporting daily and weekly operational plans and performance targets
  • Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards underground
About you
  • Previous experience working in underground mining
  • A valid underground mining licence and relevant certifications
  • Sound knowledge of underground safety procedures and mine navigation
  • Strong mechanical awareness and basic troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to work safely in confined, dark and physically demanding environments
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A willingness to obtain and maintain competency across relevant equipment, including bolters, shuttle cars, loaders, drift runners and QDS implements
