Job summary

Imaging Queensland is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join Deception Bay and Margate as Ultrasound Site Lead. This leadership role combines clinical ultrasound with team leadership to deliver high-quality patient care across two sites.

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, mentor sonographers, and collaborate with radiologists to maintain imaging standards and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate Diploma or Masters in Medical Ultrasound with ASAR registration.
• Minimum 2+ years postgraduate ultrasound experience.
• Competent in breast, general, MSK, obstetrics and vascular.
• Willing to work across Margate and Deception Bay sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day clinical and operational ultrasound at the sites.
• Collaborate with radiologists and clinic team.
• Ensure rooms are restocked, cleaned, and patients finalized.
• Provide senior clinical oversight and mentorship to sonographers.
• Drive imaging quality, workflow, and patient experience.
• Foster a collaborative high-performing team culture.

Imaging Queensland is looking for an experienced Sonographer to join our Deception Bay and Margate teams as an Ultrasound Site Lead.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with leadership, helping to support a high-performing ultrasound team while continuing to deliver exceptional patient care.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Ultrasound Site Lead, you will play an important role in the day-to-day clinical and operational leadership of the ultrasound service at our Deception Bay and Margate practices.

You will work closely with Sonographers, Radiologists and the wider clinic team to maintain high standards of clinical care, patient experience and service delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct a variety of scans including a mix of general, MSK, vascular, obstetrics and gynecological studies.
• Collaborate with radiologists and colleagues.
• Ensure rooms are restocked, cleaned and patients are finalized.
• Provide senior clinical oversight and support across your assigned site(s)
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Chief MIT and Sonography teams
• Lead, mentor, and assist in training existing sonographers
• Champion high standards in imaging quality, workflow, and patient experience
• Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team culture

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced Sonographer who is ready to take on a leadership opportunity and make a genuine impact.

You will ideally have:

• An experienced sonographer ready for a leadership step
• Graduate Diploma or Masters of Medical Ultrasound with current registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
• Ideally 2+ years postgraduate ultrasound experience
• An all-rounder with competencies in a variety of ultrasound examinations including breast, general, MSK, obstetrics and vascular.
• Prepared to work across both Margate and Deception Bay Imaging Queensland sites.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Someone who leads by example and inspires excellence in others
• A willingness to participate in further education and continued professional development programs.
• Experience with Canon and GE Ultrasound Machines ideal.
• Highly developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. With a proven ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of people internally and externally.
