Job summary

Australia Post is hiring a Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver to deliver for customers, driving our iconic red trucks and supporting local communities. You’ll perform daily safety checks, load and unload cargo, and travel between operational centres and customers with a customer‑centric approach.

The role requires a current Heavy Combination (HC) licence and forklift (LF) licence, with flexibility to work across shifts. Initially a 6‑month full‑time contract with potential extension.

About the opportunity

As our Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver, you’ll be the face of our trusted business, at the heart of your community and connecting businesses with their customers, and communities with each other day-in, day-out. You might not be working from home, but you’ll be on the road as a staple of your community, and it doesn’t get better than that!

You’ll be

• Safely loading your truck with cages for delivery.
• Completing your own daily vehicle safety check.
• Driving our modern trucks between our operational centres and customers, for deliveries and pick‑ups.
• Returning to our operational centres to unload pick‑ups.

About you

You’re a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality, who loves autonomy just as much as interacting with others and being a team player. You’re passionate about making a difference in the community.

You’ll also need to

• Demonstrate flexibility to work across day, afternoon and evening shifts, subject to operational requirements and business needs.
• Hold a current Heavy Combination (HC) Licence with demonstrated driving experience.
• Hold a current Forklift (LF) Licence with practical forklift operating experience.
• Load, unload and secure freight in accordance with company policies, procedures and safety standards.
• May operate Heavy Rigid (HR), Medium Rigid (MR) or other company vehicles as required, subject to operational requirements and business needs.
• Have a customer‑centric mindset and effective communication skills.
• Be fit enough to load and unload parcels of all different shapes, sizes and weights.
• Be prepared to provide a driving history report, undergo a pre‑employment medical and drug/alcohol screening and national police checks.
• Initial 6‑month fixed‑term full‑time contract, with potential for extension or permanent opportunities for high performers, subject to business requirements.
