Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver to join our permanent full-time team in Victoria. You will drive our iconic red trucks, deliver to customers, and be a face of the community with a safety-first approach.

As part of our team, you’ll load cages, perform safety checks, and shuttle between centres and customers, with opportunities for growth within a supportive, community-focused organisation.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant MC heavy vehicle licence.
• Be safety-focused and understand chain of responsibility.
• Have a customer-centric mindset and strong communication skills.
• Be fit to load/unload parcels of various sizes and weights.
• Be prepared for a pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol screening and police checks.

Responsibilities

• Safely loading the truck with cages for delivery.
• Performing daily vehicle safety checks before trips.
• Driving modern trucks between operational centres and customers for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Returning to centres to unload pick-ups.

About the opportunity

Are you motivated by getting behind the wheel of one of our iconic red trucks to deliver for customers? As our Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver, you’ll be the face of our trusted business, at the heart of your community and connecting businesses with their customers, and communities with each other day-in, day-out. You might not be working from home, but you’ll be on the road as a staple of your community, and it doesn’t get better than that!

You’ll be

• Safely loading your truck with cages for delivery.
• Completing your own daily vehicle safety check.
• Driving our modern trucks between our operational centres and customers, for deliveries and pick‑ups.
• Returning to our operational centres to unload pick‑ups.

About you

You’re a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality, who loves autonomy just as much as interacting with others and being a team player. You’re passionate about making a difference in the community.

You’ll also need to

• Hold a relevant MC heavy vehicle licence.
• Be safety-focused and understand the importance of the chain of responsibility.
• Have a customer‑centric mindset and effective communication skills.
• Be fit enough to load and unload parcels of all different shapes, sizes and weights.
• Be prepared to provide a driving history report, undergo a pre‑employment medical and drug/alcohol screening and national police checks.
