Job summary

Chambers Civil Construction is seeking an experienced Truck & Dog Driver to join our transport team in NSW. The role requires safely and efficiently moving materials and equipment to project sites, while complying with road transport regulations and maintaining high safety standards.

You will operate articulated trucks and dog combinations across NSW routes, perform pre-trip inspections, maintain logs, and work with dispatch to meet delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• Valid HR and HC licences and equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience driving articulated trucks and dog combinations in Australia.
• Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong route planning, map reading and GPS navigation skills.
• Commitment to safe driving, load securing and road transport compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operating and safely driving articulated truck and dog combinations on various routes throughout New South Wales.
• Transporting construction materials, equipment and other cargo to designated project sites.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck and dog combination are in safe working condition.
• Maintaining accurate logbooks, travel records and delivery documentation.
• Adhering to all traffic laws, road safety regulations and company safety policies.
• Communicating effectively with dispatch, site supervisors and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered.
• Performing basic vehicle maintenance tasks and reporting mechanical issues promptly.
• Loading and unloading cargo, or ensuring loads are secured appropriately.
• Managing fatigue and planning trips in accordance with Hours of Service regulations.

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) and Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years' experience driving articulated trucks and dog combinations in Australia
• Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one
• Proficiency in reading maps, understanding route planning and using GPS navigation systems
• Strong understanding of vehicle safety, load securing procedures and road transport compliance
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A solid safety record and commitment to safe driving practices
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks when required
• Experience working in the civil construction or logistics industry is highly desirable
