Job summary

Bechtel in Perth, WA seeks a seasoned Cost Engineer to lead estimates, analysis and control activities for complex projects. You will prepare cost studies, review trends, and implement project requirements for cost control, delivering innovative solutions for engineering challenges.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
• Coordinates the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
• Coordinates the development and accuracy of cost reports
• Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency
• Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
• Investigates the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data
• Collects and classifies cost dataPerforms budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
• Identifies cost trends for management attention
• Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong knowledge of cost engineering principles, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, trend analysis and change management.
• Demonstrated experience performing non-routine cost analysis, preparing cost reports and identifying trends requiring management attention.
• Proficiency in project controls systems and analytical tools, with the ability to maintain accurate, consistent and auditable cost data.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess cost impacts and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work across project functions and provide technical guidance on cost matters.
