Job summary

CASPA Services Ltd is seeking Therapeutic Care Workers to join our Therapeutic Residential Care Team on a casual basis across the Far North Coast of New South Wales. You will work evening, active night, and sleepover shifts, with the flexibility to travel across the FNC to support young people.

Candidates should have a Diploma in Community Services or related diploma; Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged; willingness to enrol if needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Services or related diploma.
• For Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, a qualification is desirable, but experience and willingness to participate in training are acceptable.
• If you do not hold the essential qualification, willingness to obtain and proof of enrolment will be required.

Responsibilities

• Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagement
• Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth
• Support the involvement of family and, where applicable, facilitate family visits/connections and the promotion of positive family relationships with children and young people, to suit individual needs
• Promote and encourage positive relationships with peers and other persons significant to the child/young person
• Assist the child/young person to participate as fully as possible in making decisions about the activities undertaken
• Demonstrate an empathic understanding of complex trauma, incorporating this understanding into everyday interactions, as well as responding to pain-based behaviour in a sensitive and non-punitive way.
