Job summary

Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) invites applications for a Children's Contact Services Family Support Worker in Ipswich. This part-time role focuses on safe, child-centered contact between children and their parent or carer, applying trauma-informed practice and safety considerations.

You will assess suitability, support case planning, gather the voice of the child, and ensure legislative and organisational standards are met. A rewarding role in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in social or behavioural sciences with studies in child development.
• Experience working with children and families, including those affected by conflict or separation.
• Knowledge of legislation such as the Family Law Act and child protection frameworks.
• First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Well-developed risk assessment and case management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments and parent interviews, including safety screenings and familiarisation sessions for children.
• Facilitate supervised contact visits and changeovers in a safe environment.
• Meet with children to gain feedback and inform planning.
• Monitor risk and escalate safety concerns per policy and law.
• Maintain accurate case notes and files using internal systems.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and child protection services.
• Participate in supervision and professional development.
