Job summary

Melbourne City Mission in Victoria is seeking a Response Practitioner to deliver intensive, culturally safe services to children and families at risk. You will work within a coordinated care team, using evidence-based approaches to support families toward safe reunification or preservation goals.

You will conduct risk and needs assessments, co-develop action plans with families, and connect them with practical and emotional supports.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in providing therapeutic informed casework with children, parents and families.
• Bachelor qualification in social work, youth work, psychology, early childhood development or related field.
• Sound understanding of child development and the factors that can impede a child’s healthy development.
• Experience in providing risk and needs assessment, intervention and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive outreach service to families (200 hours); outreach between 7am–7pm if required.
• Rapidly engage families to provide intensive, trauma-informed support focused on wellbeing and safety.
• Undertake child and family risk assessments using evidence-based tools.
• Develop, implement and review child and family action plans co-developed with families and carers.
• Provide practical and emotional support, coaching and connections to resources.
