Job summary

Fire and Rescue NSW is offering a Transport & Recovery Operator Level 1 role based in Greenacre, NSW. The role involves transporting vehicles and equipment across NSW and requires operating heavy transport vehicles, adhering to RMS permit systems, and coordinating incident support.

Key duties include fuel management on-site, participation in major incident response, and collaboration with the Rehabilitation POD/ Fire Duty POD teams. FRNSW provides on-site facilities and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Experience driving articulated units and heavy transport (50 tonne) and recovery of heavy vehicles.
• Operate transport vehicles within RMS permit system.
• Current Class HC driver’s licence.
• Qualifications in vehicle-mounted cranes and forklifts are advantageous.

• Transport vehicles and equipment throughout NSW.
• Operate transport vehicles within RMS permit system and manage fuel on-site.
• Refuel appliances on-site at long-duration incidents using FRNSW refueling unit.
• Attend major incidents to coordinate Rehabilitation POD/ Fire Duty POD and manage crew.
• Operate the bulk water tanker at major incidents and follow ICMS guidelines.

• Grade: Transport & Recovery Operator Level 1


• Salary range ($78,000 pa to $80,292 pa)


• Flexible Roster 38hr week 4 on - 4 off, 4 on - 2 off


• On-Call allowance payable when rostered on-call


• Location: Greenacre

About you

To be successful in the role, you will be expected to:

• Have experience in driving articulated units and heavy transport vehicles (50 tonne combination) and transportation and retrieval of heavy vehicles


• Operate all transport vehicles in-line within the RMS permit system


• Refuel appliances on site at long duration incidents using the FRNSW refueling unit


• Attend major incidents to deliver and coordinate requirements, set up, operation and retrieval of the Rehabilitation POD and or the Fire Duty POD


• Operate the bulk water tanker at major incidents and work within Incident Crew management system (ICMS) guidelines, including managing other personnel in hazardous environments

Essential Requirements

• Recognised qualifications and experience in vehicle mounted cranes, forklifts and using recovery tow trucks.


• Current Class HC drivers licence
