Job summary

Glenelg Shire Council is seeking two casual Transfer Station Operators to join our Waste Transfer Stations across the shire, helping keep facilities safe, clean and welcoming.

You will greet community members, assess loads, process payments at the weighbridge, and safely operate loaders, excavators and forklifts. You will also assist residents with recycling choices and support landfill diversion.

Qualifications

• Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
• Loader, Excavator, and Forklift licences (highly regarded).
• Proven experience operating plant and machinery safely.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Working with Children Check and a satisfactory Police check.

Responsibilities

• Greet community members, assess waste loads, and process payments at the weighbridge.

• Undertake site inspections and litter collections for a safe, tidy environment.

About the Opportunity

Are you handy with machinery, passionate about the environment, and great with people? Glenelg Shire Council is seeking two motivated casual Transfer Station Operators to join our team to help keep our shire clean, safe, and sustainable while working across our Waste Transfer Stations.

As a Transfer Station Operator your role will include:

• Greeting community members, assessing waste loads, processing payments at the weighbridge and maintaining a clean, organised facility.
• Safely operating plant and equipment around the site, including loaders, excavators, and forklifts.
• Undertaking regular site inspections and litter collections to ensure a safe, welcoming, and tidy environment for everyone.
• Helping residents with recycling choices and managing resources like green waste, cardboard, tyres, and e-waste to maximize landfill diversion.

What you need to Succeed

We are looking for two reliable team players who can work independently and maintain a positive, helpful attitude with our community. To be successful, you will need:

• Current Victorian Drivers Licence.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• A valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory Police check.
