Sydney Trains is hiring for a Trainee Train Driver to support safe, reliable journeys across NSW. This one-year, full-time program trains you to become a qualified Train Driver, with hands-on learning at our facilities and depots around Sydney.

You will train on-the-job and in classrooms, with mentoring from Driver Trainers. The role is on-site and requires participation in a demanding schedule including early mornings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Interested in a long-term career as a Train Driver.
• Prepared to commit to a demanding training schedule.
• Willing to work varying shift start/finish times including public holidays.
• Able to adapt to independent or team work.
• Resilient, dependable and organised.
• Enjoy problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in safety-focused workplaces is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Travel across Sydney to help passengers connect safely and on time.
• Operate trains safely and manage varied work scenarios during training.
• Attend on-the-job and classroom training with mentors.
• Involve travel to depots across the Sydney metro area as part of training.
