Job summary

Responsibilities

Trainee Service Technician – Queensland

Are you mechanically minded, safety focused and keen to develop a career as a field service technician?

Dentsply Sirona is looking for a Trainee Service Technician to join our Queensland Technical Service team. No previous field service or dental-equipment experience is required. We will provide a structured development pathway, practical product training and supervised learning alongside experienced technicians.

The opportunity

This entry-level role provides a pathway into field service. Under close supervision, you will progressively develop the technical, safety, customer service and systems skills required to install, calibrate, maintain and repair dental equipment.

You will initially accompany qualified technicians on customer visits and assist with service activities while completing your training and competency assessments.

What you’ll do

• Assist experienced technicians with equipment installation, calibration, preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Attend customer sites with a supervising technician or manager.
• Complete supervised work on core dental treatment-centre equipment.
• Participate in structured product, technical, systems and safety training.
• Learn to identify faults and escape work outside your current training, competency or licence requirements.
• Maintain accurate service, parts and inventory records using Salesforce and PDA systems.
• Care for company-supplied tools, parts, equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with quality, infection-control and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with customers and respect their premises and equipment.
• Report technical issues, safety risks and customer concerns promptly.
• Work closely with experienced technicians, service coordinators and the wider service team.
• Maintain your development plan and demonstrate progressive capability under our Field Service Career and Capability Framework.

What we’re looking for

• Demonstrated technical or mechanical aptitude and genuine curiosity about how equipment works.
• A strong interest in developing a long-term career in field service.
• No previous dental-equipment or field service experience is required.
• Willingness to enrol in or commence a recognised electrical qualification within three months of appointment.
• A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout Queensland as required.
• Commitment to obtaining the licences and certifications required for the role.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding safety, parts and service records.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work effectively under close supervision.
• Clear communication skills and a professional customer manner.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and willingness to complete all assigned training.
• Sound computer literacy and the ability to learn Salesforce, PDA systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• A positive attitude, personal accountability and willingness to seek guidance and act on feedback.

Safety comes first

You will only undertake tasks that are within your current training, assessed competency and licence requirements. You will not perform electrical, X-ray or other licensed work unless appropriately authorised, supervised and qualified.

Your development pathway

This role includes a structured development program with clear training and competency milestones. As your technical capability develops and is formally assessed, you will progress towards completing preventive maintenance and routine service work with greater independence.
