Trainee Electronic Security Technician – IT Background
Fortis Security | Mount Waverley, Melbourne VIC | Full-time
Got a basic understanding of IT and want to learn a hands‑on technical role?
Fortis Security is looking for practical, technically minded people who want to put their IT knowledge to work and learn the installation and service side of electronic security.
You might be working in IT support, have studied IT, built your own computers or simply enjoy figuring out how technology works. If you’re keen to learn, comfortable getting on the tools and interested in a career that combines hardware, software and real-world problem-solving, we’d like to hear from you.
Fortis Security delivers CCTV, access control, intercom, alarm and integrated security systems for commercial, government, logistics and critical infrastructure clients across Australia.
Our work brings together physical equipment, cabling, networks and software. We’re looking to develop people who can understand the technology and learn how to install, configure and maintain it properly.
You’ll work alongside experienced technicians on customer sites, developing practical skills in electronic security installation, servicing and commissioning.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role. You’ll learn to use tools, fit equipment, work with cabling and understand how a system goes from a drawing to a working installation.
Your IT knowledge will give you a useful starting point when configuring devices, checking network connections and troubleshooting faults. Previous electronic security experience isn’t essential, and you don’t need to be a networking expert.
