Job summary

Discover and Learn Academy in Heatherbrae NSW is seeking a Trainee for a full‑time Certificate III in Children's Services. The role blends practical hands‑on work with accredited training, supporting educators in a safe, nurturing early years setting.

You will contribute to play‑based learning, daily routines and child development observations, while completing your qualification. No prior childcare experience required; WWCC clearance and commitment to child safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Year 10 or equivalent educational qualification (or willingness to undertake bridging studies if required).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude toward supporting children's development.
• Current or willingness to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
• Reliability and commitment to attending all scheduled shifts and training sessions.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified educators in supervising and engaging children in play-based learning activities.
• Support the implementation of educational programmes and daily routines that foster children's development and wellbeing.
• Help create and maintain safe, clean and welcoming learning environments suitable for children of various age groups.
• Contribute to positive relationships with children, families and team members.
• Assist with personal care routines including feeding, toileting and hygiene practices.
• Support the planning and preparation of activities that promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.
• Observe and document children's progress and communicate observations to supervisors and parents.
• Complete assigned theory work and assignments as part of your Certificate III qualification.
• Comply with all relevant childcare policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
