Job summary

Melton City Council is seeking experienced Traffic and Transport Engineers to join the Roads and Traffic team. You will investigate traffic issues, deliver quality customer service, and conduct traffic and transport investigations.

Key responsibilities include reviewing Traffic Management Plans and supporting engineering activities related to traffic matters, parking, pedestrian movement, and DDA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Road Management Act, Local Government Act, and OH&S Act.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office and CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Respond positively and punctually to customer enquiries within performance standards.
  • Assist engineering staff with traffic management issues including investigations, reports and coordination.
  • Review Traffic Management Plans submitted to the department for approval.

Job description

Band 6 - Salary Range $97,926 to $106,637 per annum + 12% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.

The Opportunity

Melton City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Traffic and Transport Engineers to join the Roads and Traffic team.

Reporting to the Traffic and Transport Coordinator you will investigate traffic issues, deliver outstanding customer service, and meaningful outcomes for the community. You will be primarily responsible for reviewing traffic management plans, investigating customer enquiries, and conducting traffic and transport investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond positively and punctually within specified timelines to customer enquiries and requests and adhere to the performance standards adopted in the Customer Service Charter.
  • Undertake and assist engineering staff with traffic management issues that may include investigations, reports, correspondence and support in all areas including traffic related issues, parking, pedestrian movement, DDA compliance, traffic counts, street lighting etc.
  • Review and provide comment on Traffic Management Plans that are submitted to the department for approval.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, which would qualify the applicant for membership of the Institute of Engineers of Australia.
  • Relevant experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Road Management Act, Local Government Act, and OH&S Act.
  • Demonstrated experience in various computer packages including MS Office and CAD software.
