Job summary

Melton City Council is creating a brand-new role to transform workforce and safety data into actionable insights that support strategic decisions. The People & Safety Systems & Data Analyst will report to the Projects Systems & Data Coordinator and collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver accurate workforce reporting, analytics and data management solutions.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in HR management, information systems, data analytics or related field with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in HRIS and/or safety system administration.
  • Proven experience in workforce data analytics, reporting and dashboard development.
  • Experience with Technology One or similar enterprise HRIS, payroll or workforce systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver workforce and safety reporting, dashboards and analytics to provide insights aligned with Council priorities.
  • Ensure data integrity, security and compliance across systems; perform regular data quality audits.
  • Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to upgrade systems, integrations and processes.
  • Provide training and support to improve data literacy and reporting capability.

Band 7 - Salary Range $109,825 to $122,758 per annum + 12% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly analytical and solutions-focused People & Safety Systems & Data Analyst to play a pivotal role in transforming workforce and safety data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across Council.

Reporting to the Projects Systems & Data Coordinator, this role is a key member of the People & Safety team and is responsible for delivering workforce reporting, analytics and data management solutions that support informed decision-making, workforce planning, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, you will help drive a data-informed culture by ensuring the delivery of accurate, meaningful and timely workforce and safety insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and deliver workforce and safety reporting, dashboards and analytics that provide meaningful insights, trend analysis and key metrics aligned with Council's strategic priorities. Translate complex data into actionable information to support evidence-based decision-making, workforce planning and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, security and compliance of People and Safety data across systems and processes. Conduct regular audits of data quality, system controls and reporting standards to identify risks, implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with Council policies, standards and legislative requirements.
  • Support the effective operation, enhancement and continuous improvement of People and Safety systems. Collaborate with Information Technology teams, stakeholders and software vendors to coordinate system upgrades, integrations, implementations and process improvements that meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide expert advice, training and ongoing support to People and Safety employees to enhance system utilisation, reporting capability and data literacy. Foster a strong data-driven culture that improves data accuracy, consistency and informed decision-making across the organisation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in human resource management, business, information systems, data analytics or related discipline with relevant work experience, or less formal qualification with substantial relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in HRIS and or Safety system administration.
  • Proven experience in workforce data analytics, reporting and dashboard development.
  • Experience using Technology One or other enterprise HRIS, payroll, safety or workforce management systems in highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and data visualisation tools such as Power BI
