Job summary

City of Canada Bay Council in Five Dock NSW is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join the Roads & Traffic team within the City Assets directorate. The role focuses on managing and improving transportation infrastructure to enhance safety, efficiency and accessibility for residents and visitors.

You will conduct traffic and parking assessments, review planning applications, and collaborate across departments while staying current with Austroads guidelines and NSW road rules.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering with professional membership eligibility.
• Experience in traffic and transport strategic planning.
• Experience designing traffic facilities and managing local traffic issues.
• Knowledge of Transport for NSW, Austroads Guidelines and Australian Standards.
• Familiarity with NSW Roads Act and NSW Road Rules.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Experience working with consultants and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investigating and delivering facilities to manage traffic, parking, walking and cycling.
• Conduct traffic and parking assessments for proposed developments.
• Analyse traffic data and develop management strategies.
• Collaborate with departments and agencies on planning initiatives.
• Review planning applications and provide engineering advice.
• Respond to resident inquiries and propose solutions.
• Review and approve traffic management plans for construction projects.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in traffic engineering.
