Job summary

No.1 Roofing and Building Supplies Pty Ltd, Somersby NSW, seeks a Permanent, Full-time Sheet Metal Fabricator to interpret drawings, select metals, and fabricate roofing components. You will measure, cut, form, and install sheets for roofing, flashings, gutters and related products with a focus on safety and quality.

Applicants should hold a sheet metal fabrication qualification or equivalent and have experience operating relevant machinery. This role is based in NSW with on-site work.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in sheet metal fabrication, metal fabrication or a related field.
• Three years of relevant full-time experience may substitute for the qualification.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Experience measuring, cutting, shaping and assembling sheet metal components.
• Experience operating sheet metal fabrication machinery and tools.
• Ability to install sheet metal products such as roofing, flashings, gutters and other fabricated components.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and quality standards in fabrication and construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting construction drawings, roof layouts, and project specifications to determine scope and materials.
• Selecting appropriate metal materials (Colorbond, galvanised steel, aluminium) per specifications.
• Measuring and marking sheet metal components for roofing panels, flashings, gutters and rainwater goods.
• Cutting and preparing sheet metal using hand tools, power shears, guillotines and drills.
• Shaping and forming metal sections using folding, bending and rolling machinery for flashings and gutters.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting construction drawings, roof layouts, and project specifications to determine the scope of roofing and cladding work, including required materials, dimensions, and installation methods.
• Selecting appropriate metal materials such as Colorbond steel, galvanised steel, aluminium and other roofing metals, ensuring the correct profiles, gauges and finishes are used in accordance with project specifications.
• Measuring and marking sheet metal components using templates, gauges and precision measuring tools to prepare materials for roofing panels, flashings, gutters and other rainwater goods.
• Cutting and preparing sheet metal using hand tools, power shears, guillotines, drills and other specialised equipment to achieve accurate dimensions for roofing and architectural metal components.
• Shaping and forming metal sections using folding, bending and rolling machinery to produce flashings, cappings, gutters, downpipes and custom roofing profiles.

• A relevant qualification in sheet metal fabrication, metal fabrication or a related field. At least three years of relevant full-time work experience may substitute for the qualification.
