Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery is seeking a Trades Assistant to join our Remanufacturing Workshop team. You will support remanufacturing processes across warehousing, logistics, disassembly, inspection and parts handling, in a hands-on, collaborative workshop environment.

The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in mechanical equipment, prior workshop or logistics experience, and a willingness to learn and grow within a structured setting.

Qualifications

  • Interest in mechanical equipment and hands-on work
  • Experience in a workshop, manufacturing, automotive, warehouse or logistics environment
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, vehicle maintenance, hydraulics or related industries
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes
  • Reliable work ethic with good attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work well in a close-knit team
  • Good communication skills and relationship-building
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to perform manual handling and stand for long periods
  • Current Forklift Licence (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Support workshop operations across warehousing, logistics and remanufacturing activities
  • Pick, pack, store and move components and materials safely and efficiently
  • Assist trades personnel with disassembly, inspection and workshop preparation tasks
  • Operate hand and power tools including spanners and rattle guns
  • Perform manual handling and repetitive lifting as required
  • Assist with inventory control and workshop housekeeping
  • Complete basic computer-based tasks including data entry, online training and email usage
  • Contribute to a safe, productive and team-focused environment
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude and willingness to learn across workshop areas

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Trades Assistant to join our Remanufacturing Workshop team. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll support the remanufacturing process across a variety of workshop functions including logistics, warehousing, disassembly, inspection support, and parts handling.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical interest and enjoy hands-on work and wants to develop their skills in a structured workshop environment. Working within a collaborative and professional workshop environment, you'll become part of a diverse, and supportive workplace where reliability, teamwork and a willingness to learn are highly valued.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Support workshop operations across warehousing, logistics and remanufacturing activities

As the Ideal Candidate, You Will Have:
  • A genuine interest in mechanical equipment, repairs or maintenance
  • Previous experience in a workshop, manufacturing, automotive, warehouse or logistics environment
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, vehicle maintenance, hydraulics or related industries
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes
  • A reliable work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality
  • The ability to work effectively within a close-knit team environment
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • The physical capability to perform manual handling and stand for extended periods throughout the day
  • A current Forklift Licence (desirable)
