Job summary

SunPork Group in Toolleen, Victoria, is seeking a reliable Trades Assistant to join our Maintenance team. This full-time role (42 hours per week) offers an immediate start for a hands-on candidate with experience using tools and machinery.

Roster is Tuesday to Saturday starting at 6:00 am. You will assist with maintenance, repairs and basic welding, while ensuring biosecurity and safety requirements are met. A current driver's license and reliable transport are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving.
• Experience on machinery or mechanical equipment.
• Welding/fabrication is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and infrastructure.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Assist with preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Support repairs to machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Complete general maintenance, repairs and site housekeeping.
• Assist with basic welding and fabrication tasks where required.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and spare parts.
• Work safely while following all company policies, procedures and biosecurity requirements.
• Support the Maintenance team with additional duties as required.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Trades Assistant to join our Maintenance team at our Toolleen, Victoria site.

This is a full-time position (42 hours per week) with an immediate start available for the right candidate.

Roster

• Tuesday to Saturday – 0600am starts

Working alongside our experienced Maintenance team, you'll play a key role in maintaining site buildings, equipment and infrastructure, ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and has experience using tools, machinery and workshop equipment.

• Assist with the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and infrastructure.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Farm Hand or similar hands-on role.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working on machinery or mechanical equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience is highly regarded but not essential.
• The ability to work independently and within a team.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• A current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable transport.
• The ability to perform physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

• Hold a current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable transport.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment Medical Assessment, including a Drug & Alcohol screening.
• Be willing to work in a piggery environment and comply with all biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
• Be available to commence as soon as possible.
