Job summary

Komatsu Australia is seeking a Trades Assistant to join Batchfire Callide Mine, rotating between Maintenance and Warehouse Operations. You will support servicing, shutdowns and breakdowns on heavy equipment while helping receive, dispatch and manage parts and consumables.

You’ll work with experienced tradespeople in a safety-conscious environment, with a Monday to Friday roster and opportunities to develop in both maintenance and parts operations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on role requiring a safety-first mindset and teamwork.
• Must have a current Queensland Driver’s Licence.
• Forklift Licence is required.
• Able to obtain a Queensland Coal Board Medical and S11.
• High Risk Work, HR Truck or Crane tickets are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Work with maintenance team on day-to-day activities.
• Assist with servicing, shutdowns and minor repairs on excavators, trucks and graders.
• Operate light vehicles, service trucks, wash bays and ancillary equipment.
• Receive, dispatch and safely store parts and consumables.
• Support stocktakes and ensure parts are stored correctly.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite.
• Collaborate with trades, supervisors, warehouse teams and site personnel.
• Contribute to a positive crew culture with safety and teamwork at the forefront.

Komatsu is looking for a Trades Assistant to join our team at Batchfire Callide Mine. This is a varied role rotating between our Maintenance Team and Warehouse Operations, giving you exposure to both heavy equipment maintenance and the parts operation that keeps the fleet moving.

You’ll work alongside experienced Komatsu tradespeople, supporting servicing, shutdowns and breakdowns across excavators, trucks and graders, while also helping receive, dispatch and manage critical parts and consumables.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Getting hands-on alongside our maintenance team with day-to-day activities.
• Assisting with truck, excavator and grader servicing, shutdowns and breakdowns.
• Operating light vehicles, service trucks, wash bays and ancillary equipment.
• Receiving, dispatching and safely storing parts and consumables.
• Supporting stocktakes and ensuring parts are where they need to be, when they need to be there.
• Helping maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite.
• Working closely with trades, supervisors, warehouse teams and site personnel.
• Contributing to a positive crew culture where safety and teamwork come first.

Role Located: Batchfire Callide Mine

Roster: Monday to Friday

You don’t need to be a qualified tradie, but you do need to be someone who enjoys hands-on work, heavy equipment and being part of a hardworking crew.

You’ll bring:

• A strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with different teams on site.
• A practical, can-do attitude and willingness to jump in where needed.
• A current Queensland Driver’s Licence.
• The ability to obtain a Queensland Coal Board Medical and S11.
