Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health in Gippsland is seeking a casual Trade Cook to join the Food Services team. You will prepare and deliver nutritious meals for patients, staff and visitors in a busy healthcare setting, while upholding food safety, portion control and quality standards.

Ideal candidates will have a Safe Food Handling Course, strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team, with a focus on accuracy and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Safe Food Handling Course.

Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Trade Cook to join our growing on a casual basis.

The Trade Cook is a valued member of the Food Services team at Latrobe Regional Health, responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality meals for patients, visitors and staff. Working within a busy healthcare environment, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, nutritious and appetising food services while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and customer service.

This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team, contributing to patient wellbeing and enhancing the overall food service experience across the organisation.

The role of the Trade Cook is to:

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with standard recipes, dietary requirements and food service standards.
• Assist with meal production, portion control, stock ordering, receipting, storage and stock rotation activities.
• Maintain compliance with food safety legislation, organisational policies and the LRH Food Safety Program.
• Monitor food quality, temperature control and storage practices to ensure safe food handling standards are met.
• Contribute to efficient kitchen operations through effective use of resources, waste minimisation and achievement of service KPIs.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

• Successful completion of an accredited Safe Food Handling Course.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute positively to team outcomes.
• Sound organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic mathematical skills and the ability to perform stock control, ordering and food preparation calculations.
• A strong commitment to food safety, quality standards and delivering excellent service to patients, visitors and staff.
