Job summary

TCR Pty Ltd is seeking a Trade Assistant for our Sydney Workshop. You will support mechanics, perform basic welding, assist with maintenance, and help with parts and freight tasks in a fast-paced GSE environment.

We value safety, teamwork, and a proactive attitude. Applicants should have mechanical aptitude, basic mechanics experience, and a current manual C-class license; MR and forklift qualifications are a bonus.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Welding experience is highly regarded.
• Holds a current manual C-class driver’s license.
• MR license and forklift certification are desirable.
• Safety-conscious with ability to work autonomously or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support qualified mechanics with repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
• Carry out basic welding tasks with focus on quality and safety.
• Assist with rolling stock maintenance and repair activities.
• Support spare parts operations including receiving, stocking, pick-up and delivery.
• Prepare, pack and issue freight deliveries.
• Maintain workshop and yard cleanliness and tools/equipment.
• Provide support across stores duties and general workshop tasks.
• Work on a range of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) with a safety-first culture.

The Opportunity

A snapshot of what you will be doing here:

• Support qualified mechanics with the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
• Carry out basic welding tasks with a strong focus on quality and safety.
• Assist with rolling stock maintenance and repair activities.
• Support spare parts operations including receiving, stocking, pick‑up, and delivery.
• Prepare, pack, and issue freight deliveries.
• Maintain workshop and yard cleanliness, ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
• Provide support across stores duties and general workshop tasks.
• Work collaboratively on a wide range of specialised Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Promote and uphold a strong safety‑first culture at all times.

Who we're looking for:

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Previous experience in basic mechanics or vehicle servicing is desirable.
• Welding experience is highly regarded.
• Hold a current and valid manual “C” class Driver’s License.
• MR license and forklift certification are desirable.
• A strong focus on safety standards and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• A positive attitude with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
