Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Heavy Crew Trades Assistant near Muswellbrook to support planned maintenance on excavator and drill fleets. You will escort tooling and parts, assist tradesmen, and operate maintenance support equipment as part of a 12-hour shift roster.

A proactive safety mindset and mining experience are highly valued. The role offers development opportunities within a high-performing team, with on-site duties, training pathways and focus on asset care and shutdown support across the heavy

Qualifications

• Safety-focused approach to high-risk environments.
• Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability.
• Experience in a mining maintenance setting preferred.
• C6 high risk license desirable.
• EWP and Working at Heights licenses desirable.
• HR licence preferable for site access.
• Experience with planned maintenance shutdowns is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Escort and deliver tooling, parts and plant across the mine.
• Assist tradesmen with planned maintenance on Liebherr- Komatsu Excavators and CAT- Terex drills.
• Operate maintenance support equipment (medium/heavy vehicles, IT loaders & EWP’s).
• Assist maintenance and warehousing teams in shutdown staging and clean-up.
• General trades assistant duties and housekeeping.

About the role

Due to the increased production fleet at Thiess Mount Pleasant, we have exciting new opportunities to develop the Heavy Crew who execute planned maintenance on our Excavator & Drill fleets, located just outside of Muswellbrook, which provides a great opportunity for you to expand your skills and grow with in a high performing team as a Heavy Crew Trades Assistant. Working a 5/4, 4/5, 5/5 Dayshift roster 12-hour day and nshift, reporting to the Heavy Maintenance Supervisor you will be part of a team that is committed to developing our people and Assets. Your responsibilities will include:

• Escorts and deliveries of tooling, parts, and plant throughout the mine
• Assisting tradesmen with planned maintenance strategies on Liebherr - Komatsu Excavators and CAT - Terex Drill Fleets
• Operate maintenance support equipment (Medium / Heavy vehicles, IT loaders & EWP’s)
• Assist maintenance and warehousing team in staging and clean-up of shutdown events
• General Trades Assistants tasks and housekeeping

About you

• Have high standards for personal safety and for others
• Strong work ethic and an enthusiastic attitude
• Relevant experience in a similar role in a mining environment
• Hold a C6 high risk license is desirable
• EWP & Working at Heights licenses are desirable.
• HR licence – preferable
• Have experience in planned maintenance shutdown work
