Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking 2 reliable Trade Assistants for field-based work across South East Queensland. You will support sewer smoke testing, set up equipment, and engage with clients and residents while maintaining safety standards.

The role is full-time casual with long-term ongoing work and potential for permanency. An immediate start is available for candidates who can pass medical and drug/alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sewer smoke testing operations.
• Set up and operate testing equipment.
• Open and secure manholes/access points.
• Monitor test locations and record observations.
• Assist with site safety and traffic management as required.
• Talk with clients, residents and stakeholders about testing.
• Complete basic documentation and reporting.
• General labouring and Trade Assistant duties as needed.
• Maintain safety and environmental procedures.

About the role:

We are currently seeking 2 x reliable and motivated Trade Assistants to join a growing infrastructure services team working across South East Queensland. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role supporting sewer network inspection and smoke testing activities. Smoke testing is a safe and non‑toxic process used to identify defective sewer pipes, leaks, and incorrect connections that can contribute to wastewater overflows and environmental impacts. This is a full‑time casual opportunity offering long‑term ongoing work, an immediate start, and the potential to secure a permanent position.

If you enjoy working outdoors, are comfortable performing physical work, and can communicate confidently with clients and members of the public, this could be the opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with sewer smoke testing operations
• Setting up and operating testing equipment
• Opening and securing manholes and access points
• Monitoring test locations and recording observations
• Assisting with site safety and traffic management where required
• Speaking directly with clients, residents, and stakeholders regarding testing activities
• Completing basic documentation and reporting
• General labouring and Trade Assistant duties as required
• Maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental procedures

Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant, Labourer, Civil Construction Worker, Utilities Worker or similar
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients and members of the public
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A high regard for workplace health and safety
• A current driver's licence
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
