Job summary

Tweed Shire Council in Murwillumbah, NSW, seeks a Town Planner to assess development applications, ensure compliance with planning approvals and respond to regulatory matters.

You will conduct site inspections, prepare reports, monitor consent conditions, and provide professional advice to residents, developers and agencies. This is a permanent full-time role.

The position offers a base salary of $87,689–$103,869 per annum, 12% super, a 70-hour 9-day fortnight, and flexible work options.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Town Planning (or nearing completion).
• Ability to interpret planning legislation and environmental instruments.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assess and coordinate development applications from lodgement to recommendation.
• Conduct site inspections, prepare reports and monitor consent conditions.
• Provide professional advice and respond to planning enquiries from residents and agencies.
• Investigate and resolve planning and regulatory complaints, with follow-up actions.
• Prepare reports and briefings for management, Council and external stakeholders.
